Baking Mix Questions
All Quick breads (banana, applesauce, etc), muffins, and cakes requiring Wel
Plan can be interchanged with either Cambrooke's baking mix (not mixquick) or
Dietary Specialties DP baking mix. The ratio is: for every one cup
of wel plan required, use one PACKED cup of CB or DP baking mix. Actually,
I encourage you to do that, the muffins, quick breads, and cakes are much
moister and springier.
Wheat Starch can be substituted in most cookie recipes.
The
CBF Baking Mix can be interchanged with recipes that call for dp Baking Mix. In
addition, it has worked as a replacer for
the
combined wheat starch and Welplan recipes found in Virginia Schuetts Low Protein
Cookery for PKU Cook Book.
For
example, if a recipe calls for 1 cup wheat starch and 2 cups Welplan, you would
use 3 cups of CBF Baking Mix, with good results.
Some
have used the CBF Baking Mix in place of Welplan and used the recommended amount
of wheat starch for recipes found in Virginia Schuetts Low Protein Bread Machine
Baking For PKU book, also with very good results.
