Metabolic Food Bill Update
Dear Michigan Patients and Families:
We are a group of Michigan Metabolic Parents pursuing legislation
that will mandate insurance coverage for all metabolic food and
formula. This bill will cover all patients, there will be no yearly
maximum or age cap. We are working with a professional lobbyist to
promote this legislation.
After meeting with a Senator and Representative, we are happy to
inform you that we have a sponsor for the bill in the House. We are
now waiting for the bill to be written, given a number and go to
committee for a hearing.
In order to successfully pass this legislation, we need the help of
each and every metabolic patient and their family. A key part of
this process is a letter writing campaign. We need everyone and
everyone they know to write a letter, send an email or phone their
Senator and/or House of Representative expressing support for this
bill.
In order to get this process started, we need to compile a list of
home addresses or email addresses of those interested in seeing this
campaign through to its successful completion. By having your
email and/or home address we can communicate with you on the
progress we are making and when and how to begin the letter writing
campaign.
Please take the time to support all metabolic patients and our
pursuit to make their compliance with a low protein diet more
realistic and affordable.
